Kemkens progresses as 100% family-owned business again after buying out Essent and E.ON Group
Kemkens is a trusted installation and servicing partner for its highly recurring client base in residential and utility markets across the Netherlands. Specialized in climate, energy, and ventilation solutions, the company provides an integrated technical offering. With roughly 900 employees and maintaining over 650.000 installations, the company is ready to respond to continuously changing requirements and wishes in this space. A family business founded in 1849, Kemkens recently celebrated its 175th anniversary. The company is headed by 5th generation Joep Kemkens since 2003.
Kemkens brings a comprehensive offering of specialized mechanical and electrotechnical installation expertise to serve any type and size of energy, water, or climate control installation. It fulfils a cross-lifecycle role from new installation to maintenance and servicing to replacement for a multi-brand product portfolio of among others central heating, heat pump, air conditioning, solar, mechanical ventilation, water treatment, energy management, and domotics systems.
Essent is an energy supplier that helps over 2.5 million customers in the residential and commercial markets to live more sustainably and reduce energy use. As an energy distribution company, Essent also offers other smart, energy-related products such as solar panels, heat pumps, and isolation products. These solutions are offered by Essent’s service partners, that take care of installation through to maintenance. Essent is fully owned by E.ON Group.

The 49% minority share in Kemkens Groep held by Essent, ultimately owned by E.ON Group, has been acquired by majority shareholder Joep Kemkens. As a result, the Kemkens Groep now operates as 100% family-owned business again.
