Hunter Douglas acquires majority stake in window covering specialist Zonnelux
Zonnelux, one of the largest suppliers of tailor-made window covering products in the Benelux region is acquired by Hunter Douglas, global market leader in window coverings, known from the Luxaflex® brand.
Zonnelux is a family company specialized in window coverings. Since its foundation in 1974, the company has grown to become one of the largest suppliers of tailor-made window covering products in the Benelux region. Zonnelux has a top quality and complete product portfolio with a.o. shutters, horizontal wooden or aluminium blinds, foldable blinds, vertical louver blinds, pleated blinds, and much more. All products are made-to-measure and can fit a wide variety of window shapes. Its collections are decorative and flexible and offer choice from hundreds of colours, dozens of materials, and multiple types, all in line with the latest interior trends. Additionally, Zonnelux products can be electrified including smart home features.
Zonnelux operates from in Veghel, the Netherlands, with c. 25 employees and has multiple production locations in Europe. Its products are sold via specialist Zonnelux dealers in the Netherlands and Belgium, among which are window decoration specialists, home and interior stores, and project and interior designers.
Hunter Douglas is the global market leader in window coverings (known amongst other for its Luxaflex® brand) and a major manufacturer of architectural products. The company has its head office in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The group comprises 136 companies with 47 manufacturing and 89 assembly operations and is active in more than 100 countries. Since 2022, Hunter Douglas is 75% owned by Brazilian-American investment firm 3G Capital and 25% owned by the Sonnenberg family. The group has approximately 23.000 employees and recorded USD 4.6 billion net sales in financial year 2021.
Zonnelux is a family company founded in 1974 and has since then obtained a strong position in the window coverings market in the Netherlands and Belgium. By joining forces with Hunter Douglas, both parties expect to unlock multiple synergies which better enable Zonnelux to unburden its partners by supplying a high-quality product range.
After the acquisition, the company will remain active under the Zonnelux brand and the organisation with approximately 25 employees remains in its current headquarters in Veghel. Existing management is and remains long term committed to Zonnelux.
